AML Evolution Pension Seminar

Paul Gregson - AML Evolution
Evolution - The total pension solution
Paul Gregson will discuss the Evolution solution in detail and provide background information on issues within the marketplace, explaining where Evolution was born.
Paul has worked within the investment industry for over 18 years. He started his career with Berkley International in the Middle East and then went on to create Arabian Brokers International, developing the company throughout the region. He has also owned and managed a wealth management company in Moscow where he grew the company into one of the largest independent wealth management companies in Eastern Europe. Having returned to the UK, Paul has worked for an international private bank, where he continued in the role of business development with a focus on the growth markets of the Middle East, Latin America and Europe.
Now his role is Head of Business Development for the Knox House Group of Companies, where he brings a unique understanding of the international wealth management industry and continues to complement this rapidly expanding business.
Andrew Dobson - QROPS Bureau
The importance of taking a tailored approach to offshore pensions planning
The speaker will explain why it is important to fully understand a client's objectives when it comes to recommending an offshore pensions solution. This will encompass retirement objectives, jurisdiction of retirement, estate planning needs and ensuring that the recommended solution fits with the client's wider financial goals.
The presentation will also touch on the likely impact of the draft QROPS regulations.
Andrew Dobson has 23 years' experience in the onshore life and pensions market, and the offshore life assurance market. His technical background is as a tax and trust specialist.
Andrew's primary responsibility within The QROPS Bureau is sales and marketing and he is highly skilled in assisting advisers to identify the correct solution to meet a client's needs.
Christine Hallett - The Carey Group
SIPPS, QROPS & QNUPS
Christine Hallett will explain the suitability of SIPPS, QROPS & QNUPS for UK residents, individuals who have left the UK and intend to return to the UK in the future, and individual resident abroad with UK taxable income.
Christine Hallett is the Chief Executive Officer of Carey Pensions UK and launched the UK pensions subsidiary of Carey Group - a specialist off-shore financial services provider based in Guernsey.
Christine established the company in May 2009, and launched it in October 2009 after achieving FSA approval in just three months. Carey Pensions UK provides UK pensions administration and trustee services for SIPPs, SSAS and workplace pension schemes.
Christine is dedicated to the delivery of a quality service through her team approach. She is passionate about creating relationships that are built on mutual trust and understanding and she ensures who the highest standards are strived for by all those that work with her.
Arthur Lancaster - AML Tax
Tax & Pensions
Arthur Lancaster will touch on some key messages around the tax implications of pensions and pensions transfers. He will also look at the opportunities for both the client and the adviser, from providing the correct tax planning solutions in respect of pensions to the importance of this advice.
Arthur is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor.† After qualifying. He joined Deloitte Haskin & Sells, which became Coopers & Lybrand.† Arthur worked in the private client and entrepreneurs division where he provided tax advice to many high-profile clients.† He also worked in the corporate finance division, where he advised on MBOs, listings and other corporate transactions. In 1996, Arthur joined Ernst & Young Isle of Man, where he was head of the tax department and a director of the trust company.† In 2003, Arthur was invited to head up a newly-formed Isle of Man family office.† After successfully dealing with the transfer of the founding family's affairs from their previous advisers, he built the company into one of the leading independent trust companies.
In 2011, Arthur joined Douglas Barrowman, with whom he has worked with for over 12 years. He was tasked with the establishment of Knox House Trust Limited, as well as providing technical tax support to AML Tax.† Arthur regularly features in the Citywealth magazine list of prominent trust figures and continues to act for a number of high-profile clients in a personal capacity.
Mark Riggall - JP Morgan
How to invest for the dream retirement?
The presentation will touch on some key messages around investing for retirement. It will also look are the opportunities for both the client and the adviser, which includes providing long-term investment solutions.
Mark has worked within the financial services industry for over 25 years. He joined JP Morgan Asset Management from Jupiter Asset Management in 2010 and has responsibility for developing strategic alliances across international markets. Mark also worked for M&G Investments in the UK for over 10 years.
Mike Lightfoot - Kleinwort Benson
Where next for QROPS?
The presentation will provide a summary of the latest developments, following the recently proposed HMRC consultation document and offer ideas on where the future may lie for the main QROPS jurisdictions.
Mike Lightfoot is currently Retirement Plans Director for Kleinwort Benson (Guernsey) Trustees Limited - one of the largest QROPS providers in Guernsey.
Mike has spent over 20 years in the international financial services market, in both Guernsey and the Isle of Man - including 8 years at the Isle of Man Insurance & Pensions Authority the Island's pensions regulator.
David Cameron - STM Life
Gibraltar and the Investment potential.
David Cameron will discuss various aspects of the bonds that are offered from Gibraltar and the ways in which an investor (either directly or through a QROPS or QNUPS) can invest.
David Cameron is the Managing Director of STM Life, which is based in Gibraltar. He has been instrumental in establishing and developing the company since its launch in 2009. Prior to this, David was a Director at Scottish Provident International (now part of the Royal London 360 Group), where he was responsible for the Customer Services and IT divisions within that company.
John Greenwood - Creechurch Capital
Market overview and 2012 outlook.
John Greenwood will provide a current market overview and advise the audience on what to look out for in 2012, including the Eurozone, US and China.
John has worked within the investment industry in the Isle of Man for the past 24 years.† He started his career at Coutts & Co, where he specialised in fixed income fund management, managing three of the institutional fixed interest funds, alongside maintaining a number of private client portfolios. He has also had two periods at Thomas Miller Investment (TMI) - the second as Chief Executive in July 2004, having previously worked for TMI from 1994 to 1999. †In the intervening period, John was Managing Director of Insinger de Beaufort International in the Isle of Man. John has acquired extensive experience of managing institutional mandates throughout his career. His knowledge ranges from mutual insurance, charity, government to private client mandates.† He has combined this success as an investment manager with equal success as a business leader and has a proven track record of innovation and development. John has been a member of the Securities Institute since 1996.
